Date July 13 'Doomsday' Windows XP & 2000Microsoft will 'turn off' the entire support for Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) and Windows 2000 on July 13, 2010.
According to Adrian Stone, Senior Lead Security Program Manager and Jerry Bryant, Group Manager, Microsoft Response Communications, users should immediately upgrade the operating system to Windows 7 operating system or Service Pack 3. "We remind to all users of Windows 2000 and Windows XP SP2 that we will attract any support, and you must upgrade to its security needs," said Bryant.
Microsoft will withdraw all support, such as security updates, and assisted support.
As is known, predicted Microsoft will stop all support for all OS XP after April 2014. Moreover, at the end of 2012, suppliers of other applications will not support XP.
"In the opinion polls and surveui Gartner, 80 percent of respondents reported spending updgrade to Windows Vista," said Michael Silver, vice president of Gartner.
Silver noted that many companies have shown interest in moving to Windows 7, but not a few who still have doubts about when and how fast to make the transition.
